these are specific titles and authors that i am adjacent to and maybe “should” like but just aren’t my cup of tea, so i thought i’d list them here to spare us some pain.

some of these i might eventually touch when it’s no longer constantly in my periphery. please laugh if i end up getting really into them.

books and comics

  • harry potter books — not into fantasy or terfs
  • the song of achilles and most greek retellings — i feel like it has to be REALLY CRAZY GOOD for me to want to get into it, and most greek retellings are extremely tumblr about it. my one exception is PJO.
    • i’m sure song of achilles is good, but it has the vibe of something more dramatic + romantic than i want.
  • the idiot by elif batuman — i’ve tried it! please! i couldn’t finish it. nothing happens.
  • wotakoi — i’m sure i’ll like it but i just need people to be quiet about it first
  • skip and loafer — same as wotakoi
  • the ff. writers: RF kuang, sally rooney, mona awad, taylor jenkins reid, ottessa moshfegh, alice oseman, tillie walden — reasons could be one or more of:
    • their writing style is just not my thing
    • i have beef with them for no reason
    • they’re just recommended to me too often. calm down

tv

  • the good place — i KNOW the ending is good it’s just too quirked up for me
  • the office (uk OR us) — i have no interest in ricky gervais, and i tried the US version and just couldn’t get into it.

theatre

  • cats
  • miss saigon
  • tick, tick… boom!
  • evita
  • rent

games

  • any other fire emblem game that isn’t three houses. unfortunately i don’t care about war… i only like school…
  • stardew valley, fields of mistria, story of seasons, any/all farming sims
  • games where you have to play with others
  • the monster prom series – i tried it! gameplay is not my thing, but there are some hot characters.
